The Methodist church of Centreville was organized in June, 1842, with thirteen constituent members. The first pastor was Rev. Charles D. Burlingame.The house of worship, would seat one hundred and seventy-five persons, was erected in 1844 at a cost of $1,000. This amount is about one-half the present value of the church property.
