Taken from the Danny Dietz Memorial Fact Sheet from the City Manager's Office of Littleton, Colorado. "Danny Dietz was awarded the Navy Cross for “…extraordinary heroism in actions against the enemy…” while serving in a four-man Special Reconnaissance team in Afghanistan. “Operating in the middle of an enemy-controlled area, in extremely rugged terrain …Petty Officer Dietz fought valiantly against the numerically superior and positionally advantaged enemy force…valiantly defending his teammates and himself in a harrowing gunfight, until he was mortally wounded.” This small park was acquired by the City of Littleton, Colorado. This park is in the neighborhood where Danny Dietz grew up and walked by it everyday on his way to his elementary school. Upon graduation from a nearby high school, Danny fulfilled his dream of becoming a Navy SEAL.
