To welcome visitors and athletes to the 1961 Asian Games, a large statue, the Patung Selamat Datang (Welcome) Statue was created in central Jakarta. This statue is surrounded by a large attractive fountain (~50m diameter).
The fountain consists of three concentric rings of water jets, centred on the statue. It is difficult to photograph this well from the ground (not to mention the excitement of crossing many lanes of busy traffic on foot to reach the fountain), however, excellent photographs can be obtained from the surrounding buildings (most of which are hotels), if one has the time (which I did not).
