There are several redwood trees in the former garden of Akay House. The house has gone and the grounds are now a woodland owned by the school.

Akay House was a grand residence with laid out gardens, terraced with croquet lawn. The house was abandoned shortly after 1924 and to stop development Sedbergh school bought the land in 1936. These redwoods look to be self seeded and about 70 years old. There are three together and then one on its own.
