One can just imagine the 36th President of the United States playing under and around this windmill as a young boy.

The windmill is a metal bladed Dempster mounted atop a 30 foot
galvanized iron tower. It is located near a big oak tree in the backyard next to an elevated water tank. According to the National Register of Historic Places Contributing structure nomination form:
"As long as James E. Johnson, longtime resident of Johnson City, can recall, the windmill has been at the present site."
