The falls is named after the Welsh princess Gwladys (Born c.AD 460), daughter of King Brychan of Brycheiniog. Legend has it that she fell in love with a man called Einon. Though she was not able to with him in life she is with him for ever on the River Pyrddin as his waterfalls Sgwd Einon Gam is located several hundred meters upstream (though the walk to it is not on the trail system)

During lower water conditions a walk behind the falls may be possible, when I visited after several days of rain such a walk would not be advised.

The walk to the falls is from the Waterfalls Center (N51° 45.368 W3° 35.661) and the trailhead is across to road to the right and behind the Angel Inn.
