The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Gardens is a 110-acre area on the northeast side of the City. The area is laid out with many shaded walkways meandering through the area, with animals in their natural habitats.
All along the walkways throughout the area are tree and shrub plantings with signs showing the botanical names. All landscaping is done to capture the native, natural settings and as you walk throughout the zoo and gardens, it seems only natural to be seeing the trees and plants along the way. And when your curiosity is peaked by one of them, the sign will be there to describe what has caught your eye.
The Zoo/Garden area is open 7 days a week from 9-5, with extended hours on Saturday from May to September till 8pm. The area is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
