In downtown Seward, by the marina, is Ray's Waterfront Restaurant. This restaurant is a seafood establishment that has great views of the Seward marina, and the majestic - snow and ice covered mountains in the distance. This restaurant has a gluten-free menu that can be requested, where someone can choose from a wide selection.
Ray's is easy to find, since there aren't many north-south roads in Seward. Follow 4th Avenue to the restaurant. Parking is available nearby - there may be a parking fee. We happened to be there after Labor Day, so there were no crowds. I can imagine that this is a popular place, especially when a cruise ship is in port. Our experience was based on the lunch menu.
The atmosphere is great. There are large windows at the harbor side of the restaurant so that all patrons in the room can enjoy a view, but it is still best to have a table at a window. We were entertained by a harbor seal swimming around the moored boats. You can see cruise ships docked beyond the marina.
The lunch menu has many selections, including: salads, the Captain's Platter (halibut, prawns, and scallops sauteed in olive oil and garlic), a few halibut and salmon selections, and Alaska King Crab legs. If you can't/don't eat seafood, your selections are limited. The salad was plentiful however. The prices are higher than I am used to, but, when you are in Alaska, EVERYTHING is more expensive. Service was good and very knowledgeable about the offerings.
So, if you are in Seward, this is one place you could go for gluten-free options.
