Gordon Lightfoot traveled from Flagstaff to Phoenix, and saw a sign for a turn off to the Carefree Highway. Rumor has it he nearly lost the lyrics he wrote as a result of seeing that exit sign when he left them in the glove compartment of the rental car.
My entry is for one of the many signs along the Carefree Highway, the very same highway that Gordon Lightfoot wrote about. A highway I have traveled many many times.
