The Hotel was founded by Aggie Grey in 1933 as the old British Club.

In the 1940's it became a renowned club for American servicemen stationed in Samoa during World War II.

Soon after the war, the location became a popular holiday spot for celebrities including Marlon Brando and author James A Michener. Some people say Aggie Grey was the basis for the character Bloody Mary in the book Tales of the South Pacific.

Today, the hotel is made up of the main wooden building, which includes the reception, restaurant and ocean views, as well as a series of fale-like bungalows and pool-side rooms.

The hotel puts on a 'traditional' Samoan fiafia show every Sunday night.
