This historic horse watering trough is located along South Main Street in front of the Pettee Memorial Library. A carriage light is attached to the top of the trough. The trough is now used as a planter.

ABOUT LEWIS PORTER STONE:
"Lewis Porter Stone, eldest son of Ashley and Harriet Ann (Lamb) Stone, was born in the Pulsifer House in the village of Wilmington, Vt., December 14, 1845.
He was graduated from Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia, receiving the degree of M.D., March 1880."
However, it appears rather than practicing medicine, he went on to other pursuits.
