Building commissioned by King Sancho I in the thirteenth century, is one of the most complete examples of medieval architecture of Portugal. He was part of the Tagus Line of Defense (set of castles built to defend from attacks by the Moors Portugal) and has undergone several restoration interventions, the more profound when the 1755 earthquake.
The Castle provides a broad view of the entire Town of Belver and also much of the Town of Hawk.
