The Haines Shoe House, built in 1948 by "Colonel" Mahlon N. Haines. The shoe house is a wood frame structure covered with wire lathe and coated with a cement stucco. It measures 48 ft. in length, 17 ft. in width at the widest part, and 25 ft. in height.

Mr. Haines built a shoe sales empire in central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland which numbered 40 stores at its peak.
