Incorporating Malaysian, Persian and Arab-Islamic architectural designs, the main entrance to the mosque is fashioned in the likeness of public building gates in Muslim Persia.
It has a 116 metre tall minaret and the complex can hold 10,000 worshippers, with space for an extra 5,000 in the courtyard.
It overlooks the lake and is next to the office of the prime minister.
