Alpine ski resort and year round fun with picturesque views in the Sierra Nevadas just south of Lake Tahoe in CA. Since it sets by itself off the high volume roadways, it has much more of an alpine feel to it and much smaller crowds than it's other Lake Tahoe counterpart resorts.

UNIQUE AND INTERESTING mountain facts:
Avg yearly snowfall: over 500 inches! This pocket of the Sierra's tends to average 50 - 100 inches more snowfall than the other nearby Tahoe resorts. It is also the most average snowfall in the continental U.S. They have snow making capacity but rarely need to use it!
Last year topped 800 inches for the season. This year it's over 750 inches already with almost another month of the season left. 250 inches of snow fell in March alone.
Avg % Sunny days: 70% - Good news for all you fair weather skiers. Typical pattern is huge storms dumping large quantities of snow and then bluebird skies once the storm lets up.
