One the main road leading into the small city of Kratie, are statues of two deer, nuzzling each other. These deer display an interesting custom of Cambodia, which is, by having two statues of two animals, a girl and a boy statue, as it were, next to each other, nuzzling, a community is able to publically display the nature bonds of relationship and interaction between males and females. An exemplar. Thus, this statue, like its companion statues throughout Cambodia, can be considered part of the s_x education process of the country. Possibly, in recent years the internet has superseded.

These statues are old and worn, but, I was told, they date to the era before the Kymer Rough, thus they are well regarded in the town as a link to the past.
