Angkor Wat is the largest temple in what is a complex of temples built by the Cambodian kings a millennia ago. The temple of Angkor Wat covers over a square kilometre, and lies ~240kms to the north west of Phnom Penh. It was built by king Suryavarman II early in the 12th century as the state temple for his capital city. At that time it is estimated that one million people lived and worked at Angkor. In the contemporary era the temple has achieved iconic status, it is widely found in Cambodia, from the national flag to a brand of beer (Angkor beer).

Ramada Hotel is one of many hotels in the resort/beach town of Sihanoukillve, 200kms south west of Phnom Penh. On the grounds of the hotel are a number of cultural artefacts, the most significant of which is this replica of Angkor Wat.
