Stung Treng is the capital city of the province of the same name, ~250km north of Phnom Penh. Its population is ~13,000, the economy of the region is almost entirely agricultural, and it is a pleasant and quiet town. There is a busy central market and a lively nightlife in the cool of the evening, along the Mekong River foreshore.
This bus station is located near the Mekong. It is constructed in the French colonial era art-deco, yellow style. Most likely dating from the 1930s or 1940s. The bus station is in use, but only for 'local' buses—open backed small trucks. Larger, inter-provincial buses embark and disembark from bus company offices scattered around town. Few people disembark in Stung Treng, most people are travelling north to Laos or south to Phnom Penh.
