This photograph was taken around 1901 by William Henry Jackson.

It shows the summit house and cog railway of the time. Today, the summit house a more modern facility designed to survive the extreme conditions at the peak. Also, it is no longer used as a hotel nor does it have the observation platform. The cog railway is still used, but instead of steam it uses diesel-electric engines.
Year photo was taken: circa 1901
