The well is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and is protected in a stone well house. The site has three statues those being Jesus, the Virgin Mary and John the Baptist. The site also has a stone altar and a small chapel which contains the instructions for rounds of the well.

To reach the well from Clare Abbey roundabout located south of Ennis take R473, drive that for approximately 4 kilometers, you go to the right for approximately half a kilometer, you see a minor track to the right (north). Drive down this track until you come to a gate. Park at the gate, there is a pedestrian stile in the wall next to the gate, enter through that. Walk about 1 kilometer to the a abbey. The well is located east and north of the abbey.
