The second largest town of Cambodia, Battambang, 300kms north west of Phnom Penh, has a central market, similar in design to that of Phnom Penh, in that both share a French colonial era, art-deco look. Most probably this market was built in the 1930s, in the same timeframe as its exemplar.
To the west of the central market is a smaller market, the Boeung Chhoeuk market, constructed in the same art-deco style. And, atop this market, is a clock, facing westwards. This clock is not functional.
The clock looks relatively new, while the area it slots into on the building looks to be original, possibly a replacement at some time?
