In 1993 and 1994, 200,000 cherry red and moca D'Hanis bricks were placed in Milam park to make the promenade and other walk ways. These bricks were put in place by volunteers from local companies such as USAA, Ft. Sam Houston, and Valero(1). Most of the bricks are regular red bricks, but the ones clustered around the central gazebo in the park are donated or dedicated bricks sponsored by local citizens. The park is located between Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital and El Mercado on the west side of downtown San Antonio, TX(2). The street address is 501 W. Commerce Street. Parking is limited to the street parking meter spots unless you pay to park at surrounding parking garages or pay to park lots.
