Route 66 that runs through Chandler is on a ridge, with the town falling away to the east and to the west. On the west side of the downtown area of Chandler, on Park Road, across the street from Tilghman Park, is a concrete stairway which was built in 1907 (the year of Oklahoma Statehood).

The low end of the stairway is at Park Road, and there are 148 steps heading up the hill leading to Eighth Street, west of downtown.

A plaque indicates that the stairway was originally restored in 1965 by the Patches Club. Again, in 1997, Boy Scout Aschel King restored the stairway as his Eagle Scout Project.

A second set of concrete steps (count unknown) is located to the North of these, leading up to the vacant National Guard Statistics Building on top of the hill, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
number of stairs (minimum 60): 148.00

stair landing (check if yes): yes
