A historic pumping station in the East of Basel.

This pumping station was built in 1625 and is still operational. The power of the water wheel is used to pump fresh water of a nearby well to a higher basin to increase pressure. This water is not used as drinking water anymore but exclusively for the fountains of a park in the neighborhood.
The wheel is inside the building in a dark room behind glass, so it is very difficult to obtain a good picture.
