This compass rose is located at the main entrance door of the Harry F. Byrd Sr. Visitor Center at Big Meadows in the Shenandoah National Park. The visitor center is located on the north/west side of Skyline Drive almost in the middle at mile post 51.

The compass rose shows only the cardinal directions, north, south, east and west and in the middle the elevation of 3535 feet.
