Plaque reads: "Heavy 8" Gun M-1 only 139 made Watervelt A B 1941-1945"
In June 1940 development of an 8-inch 200 mm gun was begun. It had problems from the start, with excessive bore wear and poor accuracy, but a few were put into production as something was needed on a timely basis. It was mounted on a Heavy Tank T26E3 chassis. The war ended before these could be used, and they were later scrapped.
It is located at the 45th Infantry Division Museum at 2145 N.E. 36th Street.
