Maintained by Poole Borough Council Poole Park is an attractive area to explore with some good facilities and attractions. Parking is available inside the park but not between 6.00 am - 10.00 am on Monday - Saturday as there is no vehicular access during this time. Pedestrian access is unrestricted.

Poole Park supports a range of aquatic life being close to the harbour. Many birds can be seen on the lakes and ponds. There are various gardens, including a rose garden, memorial areas and wooded places.

The co-ordinates are taken from the main, West Gate Lodge entrance where the opening plaque can be viewed. This details the opening date of 1890 when Edward Prince of Wales formally opened the park to the public.

Poole Park is more than 100 acres with 60 acres of water comprising freshwater and brackish lakes. It was designated a Conservation Area in 1995 and strives to maintain its unique habitats.

Inside the park there is a central complex with a cafe, ice rink, play area and toilets. Around the park there is a modern restaurant, cricket pitches, crazy golf, putting green, tennis courts, exercise equipment on two fitness trails and three orienteering courses. There is also an area where pedal boats can be hired to use on the water.
