This coal post is rather awkward to spot. There is no public access to it.

Coal post 31 is clearly an important one, standing as it does, by the side of the main Kings Cross, north east route. It can not properly be accessed by the public (although there is some graffiti on its base), but there are two ways to see it:-

1. Take the public footpath on the west of the railway and peer through the trees (winter recommended on account of the leaf cover).

2. Take a train and be prepared. Trains travel through here pretty quickly, and although this is not a serious suggestion, it does occur to me that the very best, if somewhat fleeting view of coal post 31 would be from the right hand side of a north travelling train, or the left side of a southbound one.
