The building currently occupied by Saints Peter and Paul was originally built in 1903 for a group of Conservative Jews who had split off from the Reform Congregation B'nai Israel. After 1970, when the two groups reunited to form Congregation Kol Ami, the building was subjected to negligence and decay. In 1987 an affiliate of Assemblies of God bought the old synagogue and set about restoring it to its former glory. And now the building serves an Eastern Orthodox congregation.
