A monument to peace in a small town in north eastern Cambodia.

This memorial consists of a globe of the world, upon which sits a white bird, on a plinth, in total approximately 6m high. The monument is situated at the centre of a traffic roundabout, on the north end of the town, near the entrance to the town proper, from the main highway leading to the town. It is one of the first sights seen as people enter the town of Kratie.
There is no plaque or other source of information I could find about the memorial. Several local people told me that the memorial was in place in the 1990s (when they were children), so, presumably it was constructed in the 1980s. A copy of the town's tourist information sheet, showing the memorial, is in the gallery.
Not the most skillfully executed statue I have seen, but a pleasing gesture in a formerly troubled land.
