A large mosaic of a bluebonnet is found behind the gazebo in Crockett Park at 1300 N. Main, San Antonio, TX. The bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas and Dave Crockett is a Texas folk hero for his leadership and marterdom at the Battle of the Alamo in March 1836. Whereas the bluebonnet is a native plant of Texas and the southwest, Crockett had only been in Texas for three months before his death at the Alamo (1). It is fitting that these two icons of Texas are associated in this manner. The bluebonnet's officially botanical name is Lupinus Texenius (2). This is one of three flower mosaics encircling the Crockett Park gazebo. See also WM9P5P and WM9P6D.
