The Garber area was opened for settlement as part of the Cherokee Land Run of 1893. The mural on the south side of Garber Auto on Main Street, just north of Ponca Street shows the excitement and pandemonium of that day in 1893 when settlers scrambled to lay claim to land of their own.

The mural shows riders on horses, and families in Connestoga wagons, racing across the prairie to stake a claim in this new, wide open land of Oklahoma Territory.

The mural was painted by Dr. Bob Palmer and his art students in 1997. His website shown below outlines the hundreds of murals he has painted throughout Oklahoma.
