On the south side of the Garber Bus Building on Main Street, north of Choctaw Road is a mural depicting the history and activities of the town of Garber.
From left to right, the following things are portrayed:
* Oklahoma State Flag with its Native American shield
* Teepees of the plains Indians
* Buffalo stampeding
* An oil derrick
* Map of Oklahoma with the town of Garber shown
* Scissortail, the State bird
* An oil pumping unit to commemorate the part oil has played in the town's history
* Windmill, a common sight in this agricultural area
* Cattle, representing the livestock industry here
* A grain elevator, the common skyline of rural Oklahoma
This mural was painted in 1997 by Dr. Palmer and his art students, of Bob Palmer Studios, Inc. Dr. Palmer has received many awards for his murals all over the state of Oklahoma. He was awarded "Oklahoma Art Educator of the Year in 2007." Check out his website shown below.
The only drawback to this mural is that all the Garber school busses are parking in front of it much of the time. Oh well.
