The blood donation center of Basel is located at Hebelstrasse very close to the University Hospital. It's in a preserved historic building, the former summer residence of a count.

It is open 6 days a week and they organize dozens of blood drives in the region.

The whole blood donated is processed in in-house laboratories to produce erythrocyte concentrate (packed red blood cells) and fresh frozen plasma. The products are then transferred to medical facilities in the region.
