Images of Nia is a mural I had never seen, being located in a part of town I rarely visit. The mural is painted on the rear wall of the Frank H. Ball Recreation Center, a facility that was built during the Great Depression. The mural was created in 1980 by local artists with funding provided by the City of Fresno. The Mural depicts the heritage of African-Americans throughout history.
A nearby plaque reads as follows:
"Images of Nia"
This mural is dedicated to the People of West
Fresno from the city and the artists of Central
Valley Kuumba Arts.
Special Appreciation is expressed to those
artists who donated their time, energy, &
creativity to make this project possible.
