The Cascata di Varone is one of the most famous and most impressive waterfalls in northern Italy.
The water falls down ca. 100m in two steps. During the last 20.000 years, the water dug its own gorge, so that by today the water seems to fall down inside the mountain (which is obviously not really true - it is just the impression that you get).
The waterfall can be visited since 1874. At the lower step the waterfall is illuminated, which creates a very nice atmosphere.
Be sure to bring rain-proof clothings. As the path leads very near to the fall, you will definitely get wet.
Some parking-places are available direct at the entrance for free. It may be an advantage to drive a small car.
Calculate a minimum of 1 hour to visit.
