In Cohasset, near the town line and corner with Hingham, is Turkey Hill Reservation, a publicly accessible park operated by the Trustees of Reservations. At the top of Turkey Hill, a partial structure made out of concrete. This appears to be the only remaining artifact of the Nike site that was located here. The area is now mostly a managed field, with a line of cell towers at the crest. On the western slope is the pasture for the Weir River Farm.
According to Ed Thelan's site, The site was in operation 1956 - 1963. It guarded the Naval Ammunition Depot site to the south. The property was transferred to the Army in 1961. The Army transferred some of the depot site to the state in 1967 to establish the Wampatuck State Park and the rest was used as an Army reserve center. The rest, minus some brownfield land under EPA requirements, was transferred to the state in 1986.
There were three launchers. One was for type "B" missiles, and two were Ajax missiles.
Parking is available near the site or in a lot off Route 3A, with a little walking up the hill. For the nearest site, from Route 3, go south onto Route 228, East Street. Continue to a three point intersection with Leavitt Street and take a left. Continue on Leavitt Street, then bear left onto Turkey Hill Lane. Continue uphill to the end, by a farm. There is a kiosk about the site, which is really three reservations together: Turkey Hill, Weir River Farm, and Whitney-Thayer Woods, all managed by the Trustees of Reservations.
