The Conservation Carousel at the Akron Zoo was dedicated on July 31, 2010. The carousel, designed and built by Carousel Works in Mansfield, Ohio cost $500,000. The carousel features 33 hand-carved wooden animals and a peacock chariot. The carousel has 350 LED lights. Recycled materials, trees and plants from the zoo also were used to help create the new site. The music is recorded.
