This redwood section is near the "Paul Bunyan Forest Camp" area of Turtle Bay Exploration Park. According to their information, the tree was planted in 1850, but counting the rings seems to give an age older than that. However, it certainly was growing very quickly, since the rings are as broad as a person's finger, so it must have been living in favorable conditions.

Turtle Bay is open 9AM to 5PM daily in the summer, closed M-Tu in winter. It requires admission, which includes the park, museum, and gardens.
