This is an area with exciting climbing structures and a water play "gold-mining-stream" feature. Admission is through the (expensive) Turtle Bay wildlife center and nature museum. Only children under age 4 are free. It's open daily in the summer, but closed M-Tu in winter and closes at 4PM instead of 5PM.
The play area is shady, making it a good choice for Redding's usually scorching summer weather. There are picnic benches and tables nearby, and several working drinking fountains, as well as clean restrooms in the nearby Paul Bunyan Millhouse building.
