Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) is one of the major cities of Thailand with a total population approaching half a million. On the southern side of the city is what is referred to as the 'new' bus station (or bus station number 2). This station deals with transport between provinces, and between Korat and Bangkok. As Korat is the 'gateway' to the north eastern (Isan) region of Thailand this is a busy station with people travelling east or west..
The new station is large. It has a long central waiting area, with large, double story admin offices and ticket counters at either end. There are ~30 bus bays around this central area. Of to the north is a separate open air refreshment/restaurant area. Taxis, tuk tuk, motor bike drivers sit in the shade waiting for a fare.
