Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) is one of the main cities of Thailand, with a total population approaching half a million. On the eastern side (and in a slightly older area) of the city is what is referred to as the 'old' bus station (or bus station number 1). This station deals with transport largely within the province and with services which depart from the city.
In design it follows the usual model. A long rectangular open covered, central waiting area, with chairs and facilities. There are admin offices at one end of this waiting area. Around this central area are bus parking bays. This station is slightly larger than most regional stations, with a second story and a waiting area at the rear.
When I visited (midday, weekday), there are a good number of buses at the station, with a busy hive of people coming and going.
