Korat is one of the larger cities of Thailand (pop. ~500,000), and the gateway to north eastern (Isan) Thailand. Thus it has a large train station, which lies on the western side of the town. From here trains travel to Isan and also to Laos and Cambodia, plus to Bangkok.
The station building is a two story affair, rectangular, running parallel to the tracks, in a colonial style, with high ceilings. It is clearly of some age, but well maintained. The principal feature is the central ticket area, two stories high, with admin offices on either side. Outside the station is a waiting area, plus the usual assortment of tuk tuks and motor bike drivers to convey you around town.
In front of the station is a mini-park, and in this park is a decommissioned train.
