The Rush Springs Cemetery is located on N. Chestnut Street East of downtown Rush Springs. This is a large cemetery, reported to have 4353 graves.
Three WOW headstones were noted in just a quick overview. Under the regulations of the EPA, this cemetery can no longer be expanded. Another new cemetery West of town will become the main internment location of the townspeople.
This cemetery is well taken care of and sits just east of Jeff Davis Park, the location of the Rush Springs "Spring" at the head waters of Rush Creek, well known for 200 years and used by cattle drovers along the Chisholm Trail as a watering hole for the cattle.
There are many old headstones in this cemetery, and a future trip is planned to leisurely wander throughout the grounds.
