The Central City Fire Department is one of the oldest fire companies in Colorado. The firefighters are volunteer. Central City is a tourist town with gambling halls in the historic buildings. Located in the foothills of Colorado, the firefighters may need to contend with either a fire in a building or a wildfire in the mountains.

This building was restored by the local business community. The plaque reads:

Dedicated in honor of
Mrs. Willaim C. Russell, Sr.
Linold J. Begg Emil Thiel
and many other loyal citizens
and merchants who made the
restoration of this building
possible.

This is one of two stations. The second is north of the city at (visit link) .
