The sundial is positioned in the forecourt of the original mansion. It is surrounded by some classical statues. The original sundial was Grecian and dated to 1682; it was made by Henry Wynne.
The sundial we see today is a copy of this dating to the 18th century, or possibly 1835. It was probably made for Thomas Philip 2nd Earl de Grey. Constructed of marble it is an octagonal design with some decoration on the pedestal. It is a Grade II Listed feature, listed on 10th January 1985.
The views from the sundial are impressive with Wrest Park house to the north and the Pavilion across Long Water to the south.
Sundial Type: Horizontal - Flat base, Ground or Pedestal mounted dial plate
