This is a new monument of black granite outside the Verga Fire Company, at a very visible intersection on Hessian Ave. and Crown Point Rd.
It stands about 4.5 feet tall, and is located in the center of a brick and gravel plaza in the shape of the fireman's cross, which is also the shape of the monument itself.
Each side of the cross is engraved. The top contains the information about the company, the left reads: "In honor of our fallen firefighters who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty through their dedication to save life and property." The right is the fireman's prayer, and the bottom had the two names of the honored firefighters: "Albert J. Forsythe June 23, 1958" & "James T. Heenan March 25, 2001"
This monument was dedicated on May 11, 2002.
