"Moline City of Mills Mural is a historic depiction of Moline in the 1850s. The impressive life-size mural is located on the west wall of the Historic block Courtyard on River Drive (between 15th and 16th Streets). The mural shows how a small brush dam built between Moline and Rock Island, (today's Arsenal Island) provided power for a variety of mills and factories making Moline a destination for early settlers looking for jobs.
Prominently placed in the mural are John Deere and John Gould who founded businesses that are still providing jobs in Moline, some 160 years later. The project complements the nearby Moline Downtown Commercial Historic District, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007"
