Following the War of 1812 many veterans were award land grants in Arkansas Territory. The water fountain memorializes 56 of these veterans who are buried in Arkansas. The memorial is located near the southeast corner of the Capitol, this monument was dedicated in 1917 and refurbished in 2003-2004.
