One of the major Wats in the provincial capital city of Rayong is Wat Pa Pradu. The Wat is believed to be on the order of three centuries old, however, it has been extensively modernised. The Wat now looks entirely new. There were several buildings in the process of construction when I visited in July 2010. The grounds also have more than a few Buddhist shrines and images on display.
Of note is that the Wat houses a reclining Buddha. This Buddha is 12m in length, and near unique in that it reclines on its left side, not the right. It is housed in its own enclosure, with other Buddhist images. I can add that it is one of the more attractive Buddha images I have seen.
The Wat lies close to the town centre, and is open for visitors every day of the week.
